A backyard party for first communion or confirmation
Both fall in the same spring stretch, both bring three generations to one yard, and both are easier to plan once you stop treating the reception like a formal event.
First communion and confirmation both land in the same few weeks between Lent and the end of May, and both usually end the same way: a reception at someone’s house with grandparents, cousins, godparents, and a kid who’s been in a formal outfit since nine in the morning and would like to stop standing still now. The reception doesn’t have to match the tone of the service. Most families find it works better when it doesn’t.
The guest list decides the castle, same as any family party
These parties tend to run three generations deep, which means the kids present range from toddlers to teenagers even though only one of them is the one being celebrated. Classic Castle holds 800 pounds at a time and suits a smaller family gathering. If cousins and neighborhood kids are turning it into a bigger afternoon, Castle with Slide holds 1,000 and keeps up with a wider age range cycling through. Weight limit is the number that actually matters here, not a guess at how many kids that translates to.
Spring weather in Colorado is the real planning risk
Late March through May is exactly when Colorado throws its most unpredictable weather, sometimes warm, sometimes a surprise system that wasn’t in the forecast three days earlier. We don’t deliver in wind over 15 mph and nothing goes up in rain, so if your date turns against you, we’d rather adjust the time with you than leave you without a plan. Full detail on our weather rules.
It doesn’t need to look like a kids’ party
The outfit is formal. The reception doesn’t have to be. A castle set up in a corner of the yard away from where the adults are eating gives kids somewhere to go while the grownups actually talk, which is usually the point of the whole afternoon anyway. Setup takes 30 to 45 minutes and we anchor with sandbags rather than stakes, so grass, a patio, or a driveway all work.
A piñata fits the moment better than a second activity
We sell five piñata designs outright, and this is one of the easier places to use one: gather everyone for five minutes between lunch and cake, then back to the yard. See the designs and ask about pricing when you book, either alongside a castle or on its own if the castle isn’t part of your plan this year.
Booking around a specific date
Spring weekends fill up fast between confirmation classes, first communion schedules, and everything else April and May carry. Day rates run $100 to $300 for the day, delivered and set up, and we deliver at no charge to Parker, Denver, Aurora, Castle Rock, Littleton and Centennial. Check our delivery page if you’re outside those six. Send us the date and roughly how many kids you’re expecting, and we’ll tell you which castle actually fits your yard.
