Bounce house weight limit: how many kids fit

Weight, not headcount, decides how many kids can jump at once. Our castles are rated 800 and 1,000 pounds; here's how to check your guest list.

What is the weight limit on a bounce house?

Ours are rated 800 pounds for Classic Castle and 1,000 pounds for both Castle with Slide and Castle with Double Water Slide. That’s the combined weight of everyone on the castle at the same moment.

How many kids can be in a bounce house at once?

It depends on how much they weigh, not how many there are. Add up the weight of the kids you’d have on at once and keep the total under the castle’s limit.

We don’t publish a headcount, and that’s on purpose. A number like “eight kids” sounds helpful until you picture eight toddlers next to eight ten year olds; the load is wildly different, and a headcount can’t tell the two apart. Weight can.

Imagine eight kids who average 55 pounds each. That’s 440 pounds, comfortably inside any of our three. Swap in eight kids averaging 110 and you’re at 880, which is over Classic Castle’s 800 but still under the 1,000 on the other two. Your kids’ real weights will differ from my examples, so use your own guest list.

Do adults count toward the limit?

Yes. Anyone standing on the castle counts, and a grown-up who climbs in to rescue a toddler adds a full adult’s weight to the total. If your party has a lot of parents who like to jump in, plan for that before you pick a castle.

Which of our castles holds the most?

Two of the three are tied. Here’s how they line up, with the footprint too, because a bigger limit means a bigger castle that needs a bigger yard:

  • Classic Castle: 800 pounds. 13 by 13 feet, 14 feet tall. $100 for the day.
  • Castle with Slide: 1,000 pounds. 15 by 16 feet, 17 feet tall. $200 for the day.
  • Castle with Double Water Slide: 1,000 pounds. 16 by 15 feet, 11 feet tall. $300 for the day, wet or dry.

If your group is mostly small kids, Classic Castle is plenty. Once you’re inviting a mixed crowd of older kids, the 1,000 pound castles give you 200 pounds more room for the same party. Prices and the full lineup are on the cost page and the castles page.

What if everyone wants on at once?

Take turns. It’s the same advice for every castle, and it works: send the oldest group in first, then the youngest, and let the cake decide when the shifts change.

Booking a second castle is another option; ask when you book and we’ll tell you what’s open for your date. Either way, don’t push past the limit because the line got long. The rating is what the castle is built for.

Does the weight limit change the setup?

No, but the setup is part of why the limit holds. Every castle goes down with four to six sandbags before anyone gets on, and we won’t deliver in winds over 15 mph, which is a separate rule from weight. Both are on the safety page, along with our insurance limits.

Not sure your yard fits the bigger castles? What your yard needs covers footprint, slopes and surfaces.
